Work in progress
Good day, dearest reader! I am a fan of liminal space, and it is likely that if you too are reading this, so are you. Since I discovered this niche, I fell immediately in love with it! It's nostalgic, it's artistic, and it's eerie, a few of my favourite traits for media. Good liminal space media envokes an undescribable cocktail of the emotions terror & nostalgia, and I believe it is within a persons self-interest to engage with it. However, as it gained more traction, I believe that some people perhaps didn't quite pick up on what liminal space on a fundamental level. (Before I explain myself further, let me be clear: It's okay for people to express themselves with any form of art, and I don't mean this to downplay anyones artistic abilities. I am just trying to make a point that what liminal space is, and how people interperet and execute it doesn't always match up with its true self. No hate towards anyone!) Liminal space, before it blew up on the internet, was simply a description for a location in which a transition happens, such as a hallway (hence the name). As an art form however, liminal space takes a place of familiarity that you would not usually think about outside of a certain context, and puts it in an unfamiliar context. For example, a living room often occupied by family completely empty. The mystification of an inherently normal place is absolutely essential for liminal space. This unspoken rule of liminal space is of great importance because liminal space would be completely meaningless if it didn't have a certain attachment or association to it.
